A Light in the Heart
Course
"Beauty is not in the face; Beauty is a light in the heart." - Kahlil Gibran
Connect to the light in your heart in order to gain more clarity, direction and purpose for your year ahead.
A workshop for awakening the heart as we move towards the darkest night and the return of more light.
This course is a journey into the cavernous heart. Together, we will allow the heart to break open to its grief, joy, loss, hope, light and power. Through guided meditations, reflections, shamanic healing work and dance, we will move through the abyss of the heart. The aim of this course is to reconnect you with your own personal heart wisdom to be a guiding light for you in the year to come.
The time between the November new moon and the winter Solstice is a sacred time across many traditions and spiritual practices. It is when we move towards the darkest/longest night on the Solstice (December 21/22) and coincidentally when the days begin to lighten. Often this time of year can be full with holiday parties/planning/shopping and go-go-go. But the long nights and darker days are truly a call to look within and self-reflect. This course is an opportunity to do just that. Pause. Reflect. Release. Heal. Move. And Align yourself for the year ahead. The course will leave you heart-centered and connected to your most cherished visions, loves and passions.
The course consists of 7 one and a half hour sessions. The four Tuesday evening sessions will offer an inward focus: you will be guided in meditations, shamanic journey-work and reflections. The three Saturday mornings sessions will offer an opportunity to be in a moving meditation with the group. Music and open-ended movement prompts will provide you an opportunity to open to free style movement to release and integrate the internal bodywork.
All sessions will be recorded (minus the talkbacks to respect people’s privacy). Participants will receive the links to all the 7 videos so you can complete course at own pace and revisit the material. Through these recordings, participants will be provided with guided meditations, visualizations, shamanic journeys and open movement practices to keep for their personal practice.
A note on this kind of dance work: Dance can be seen and used for many different purposes. For the purpose of this course, dance is understood as an ancient and innate source of embodied wisdom. It is available to all bodies regardless of ability, age and background. No specific dance or physical training is required for this course. Simply a willingness and curiosity to deepen one’s body awareness is all that is required.
